Archery Shop in U.K.

My elder sister, Gabrielle Khryss flew to U.K. for her birthday this summer. She pleaded to  Dad and Mom, that she be allowed to visit England and Wales in lieu of having a party for her debut. Well, she got her birthday wish! My parents said that she earned a trip for having good grades for her first year in the university.

Ate Gabrielle at Cardiff University in Wales. She visited Tita Monina, Tito Jerome and cousins in Newport

Before  my “Ate” Gabrielle left, I requested her to look for an archery shop in U.K. and buy some stuff for me. I did not ask for other “pasalubong” (gift) because all I wanted was a new archery bag.  My sister visited Windsor Castle, Hampton Palace, Stonehenge, Bath City and other places before she remembered my request.  Of course, I also kept reminding her about it.

Together with my Tita Winnie, she went to  Quicks Archery Store located at Apps Court  in Surrey, which is near London. The store has an indoor and outdoor range. It sells recurve and compound bows, arrows, quivers, chest guards  to  accessories, among other things.  My sister was able to buy a nice lightweight  backpack  that comes complete with an arrow canister for me. The Hoyt bag was out-of-stock, so she got me an SF backpack instead. She also bought a Hoyt bucket hat and  a bowstringer for me.

How I wish that one day I can shoot my arrows in this Archery Shooting Range

British Pound to Philippine Peso conversion is 1 : 63.25. The rate per hour is pretty expensive. Need to save on my school allowances to be able to practice shoot here... :-)

Extra pasalubong from Ate Gabrielle...

And here's a Lonsdale bag as additional pasalubong...

My New Target Face

For the past few days I haven't had my practice shooting because my dad was busy transferring his things from Villa 11 to Villa 3. My target butt was left at Villa 11 while we already stayed at Villa 3. Yesterday afternoon, my dad completed the transfer of all his things and the last item brought was my target butt.

This morning I dressed up my target butt with a new target face bought by my Ate Gabrielle in London. She sent it through dad's friend so I can start using it while in the desert.

Practice by the Desert of Jeddah

Finally, I am on my long summer school break. It is the time of the year I really looked forward to. There are no school assignments and projects to be bothered about.  I can also have uninterrupted practice at the range. But I have to fly to Jeddah for my  yearly  visit to  my Dad. He has been working there for the past nine years.  So I can still practice while on vacation, it was hurriedly decided that  I  bring my  archery stuff to Jeddah.

When I arrived in Jeddah, my Dad went to look for a target butt  so I can start practicing. He went from one sports store to another, but cant find one selling it. Then  while  we were cruising the highway, we saw bales of hay being sold. Jeddah  has lots of dried hay because the people use it as fodder for the camels.  This gave Dad  an idea to use the  bales of hay  as my back stopper for my target butt.

There are lots of hay bales sold along the road. These are used to feed camels, sheeps, and goats
Dad checking on the hay if it is possible to be made as a target stopper
Finally, Dad with Tito Jun decided to buy and try working on my target stopper

This is still early morning but the scorching heat of the sun is already evident in the photo

A supposed participant to the Indoor Archery World Cup Stage 1 - Singapore

As part of getting an experience and exposure to world-class Archery, I registered to the Indoor Archery World Cup Stage 1 in Singapore together with some members of the Cebu Archery Club last July 2012. I know that such experience will be worthwhile. I was excited and was really serious about this that I even had to beg off a school semestral break travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and to Singapore last month with Ate Gabrielle and my first cousins, Ate Kara and Ate Nicole. I started saving for the trip but then later realized that there are better plans. Had I joined my wanderlust cousins and sister, I would not have been able to join the 2012 Cebu City Olympics last month for the pre-selection of athletes to the 2012 CVIRAA.

The schedule of the Indoor Archery World Cup Stage 1 in Singapore which was scheduled starting today, December 8 & 9 would not be possible as it will be in conflict with other Archery Tournaments that would give me better experience and exposure. The 2012 CVIRAA Regional Games held here in Dumaguete City from December 2-7 was considered to be a better experience for a starter like me. It will not be possible to have everything else I will be burnt out... hahaha... In fact CVIRAA was already in conflict with the schedule of Batang Pinoy National Games in Iloilo City on December 4-9. I am suppose to represent Cebu City in the Archery for Girls at the Batang Pinoy in Iloilo and till the last minute was planning out with my parents on how to catch up in the Games. But with the delays in the Games at CVIRAA caused by the untimely Super Typhoon Pablo, all hopes of making it to Iloilo went pfffft.

Because I was officially registered for the Indoor Archery World Cup, my name appeared in the list of participants. Probably, some people would raise their eyebrows why a 12-year old girl who know nothing about Archery is included in the list...jejejeje...(in the same category as the champions and great archers).

Well, now that you know that I registered, you will no longer be surprised and wonder in case you happen to see my name in the list.

List of Participants to the World Indoor Cup 2013 Stage 1 - Singapore

In a couple of hours, mom and I will be flying out of Dumaguete City... Nope, we're not flying to Singapore for the Indoor Archery World Cup. We're flying back to our home in Cebu. How I so missed my Kuya Kevin, Ate Gabrielle, Ate Fe, my cousins, my classmates, and everyone including our dear Justine.

It will be back to school in two days after a weeklong absence because of the CVIRAA... and there's a lot... real lot of catching up to do in my academics.

Have a nice weekend, everyone!
